Bohol hotels and lodging guide

Alona Beach is full of great resorts

Alona Beach is full of great resorts

There is a good choice of accommodation places dotted throughout the island of Bohol and it is simply a choice to make between a sleepy rural location, a touristy beachfront resort or a city centre hotel convenient for shopping and entertainment. The major tourist hotspots are concentrated around Panglao Island and Alona Beach in particular which features many mid-range and upscale beach hotels and a handful of dive resorts.

The island capital of Tagbilaran is home to many small guest houses and mid-range business hotels offering prime locations and transport links and decent value for money. It is possible to find comfortable budget accommodation here for under Php1,000 a night.

There are small clusters of hotels and guest houses situated close to the island’s major attractions such as the Chocolate Hills and the Tarsier Visitor Centre. These are both relatively rural locations and will provide a more authentic experience, albeit rather limited public transport links to elsewhere.

You are likely to get the best deals at these places, especially for longer stays. The historic river town of Loboc is another good bet for the quiet life but also has a fair choice of bars and restaurants to keep most people happy for a few days.

Bargaining is feasible at all places although during the busy high season, cheap deals are hard to come by. Save time and money and check out our recommended list of places to stay in Bohol whether you are seeking cheap traveller accommodation or five star luxury.
