Philippines travel tips & advice
With the Philippine’s tapestry of islands, there are surely lots of ways to enjoy and admire the wonderful country. As with anyone who would be visiting a strange land for the first time, you might need a little heads up on what to expect in such a diverse yet charming place. There are some Philippines travel tips and advice for those who would be taking on the adventure of their life in the bustling archipelago:
1. Make sure that you are prepared for the time difference. The Philippines’ time zone is GMT +8 hours, so if you are coming from some parts of the US, that’s almost a 24-hour difference. Prepare ahead. You would not want to get stuck on a jetlag throughout your trip to the magnificent country; otherwise you’d miss out on all the fun.
2. There are many airports in the Philippines, depending on the airline you are taking. The main international gateways to the country are Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao, Subic and Laoag, with the Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as the premier gateway. Domestic flights to and from these international portals and other regional airports are also available, offering convenient connections between the country’s most interesting destinations.
3. Hotels can be quite expensive compared to neighbors like Thailand. The good news is, there is plenty to choose form. Accommodations are abundant especially in the key cities. Island destinations are also well equipped with resorts and various kinds of accommodations. Major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, shopping malls and other major establishments, while currency exchange facilities can also be found in such places. English is widely spoken throughout the country, so communication is not a problem. Services are easily accessible from transport to accommodations and banking.
4. Prepare for crowds. The peak months for travel to the country are mostly during the summer months of March to May and the holiday months of November to February. The months of March, April and May are the driest and hottest, while the Months of November, December, January and February are the coolest.
